Dr. Michael Horowitz's Stretch of the Day Series
Stretch of the Day:
- The Pigeon (Piriformis) Stretch! Also a stretch for the piriformis muscles, an internal rotator of the thigh. On your hands and knees, lift one knee across and behind the opposite knee. Now slip that knee/leg back and to the side at a 45-degree angle until you feel a stretch on the opposite hip/pelvic area. Keep your torso & chest elevated while pushing up with your hands. Gently hold for 15-30-seconds and slowly exit this stretch. Repeat sides.
