Stephanie Davis - Biography
Many of us have endured difficulty and struggle at some point throughout our lives that has impacted our abilities to connect with others, foster change within ourselves and attain our personal goals. Through the counselling relationship, I have been privileged to observe and experience the resiliency and strength of the human spirit as I journey with clients to a place of healing, growth and transformation.
Prior to completing my Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology at UBC, I worked as a secondary school teacher in Richmond. Working with adolescents over the last seven years, I have observed the social, familial and academic challenges they face and the limited resiliency they have to overcome conflicts when they arise. This is what inspired me to move away from classroom teaching and into counselling. I am currently a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.
Fostering a therapeutic relationship rooted in non-judgement, empathy, compassion and care is the foundation of my approach to counselling. Integrated with that is my passion for helping individuals navigate the different parts of self that may have been impacted by childhood or present trauma in the hopes of supporting healing and growth. I utilize a variety of expressive modalities aimed at connecting individuals to their different parts of self that may be harder to access or unknown to them. I have experience using these techniques with individuals, couples and groups; however, I have found particular success working with adolescents overwhelmed with future expectations while trying to navigate a challenging and ever-changing social world
